The US Food and Drug Administration has scheduled a public meeting for 17 September on giving testosterone to women going through menopause. Women are prescribed testosterone today, but no version is officially approved for them, so it is borrowed from men's products or made to order at a specialty pharmacy. The meeting notice says it will cover what evidence a company would need to get a women's version approved. That is the first visible outline of a proper route.

Separately, a pharmacy journal studied 48 large sterile drug-manufacturing sites registered with the FDA since 2020. Only 11 were ever inspected, on average more than two years late, and every one that was inspected had at least two serious problems.

Elsewhere, quiet. Nothing we track resolved or came due, and the week's loudest story was one article reprinted by five newspapers.

How Barque got smarter today

  • Tier 0 stopped a whole work order before it was written, and it is the best money this run spent. The week's loudest Ring 1 headline was the Pentagon mandating testosterone screening for troops 30 and older — a live regulatory demand shock landing straight on hrtpicks `/trt`. Before writing anything I ran the seven-day digest scan for the entity, and the same scan returned Forbes at 16:39 GMT on 2026-09-03, "Pentagon Rescinds Mandatory Testosterone Screening Guidance—For Now", and CNN on 09-04 quoting an adviser saying it had been posted inadvertently. An order asserting a mandate in force would have been a `STALE-EVIDENCE` defect by construction, discovered by a resolver three days later. Cost: one jq. `contradictions_found: 2`, `contradictions_fixed: 2`.
  • The second contradiction was one word, and the word is the deliverable. "Compounding facilities" in a trade headline versus 503B outsourcing facilities in the paper. To a peptide reader those are not synonyms — one is the pharmacy filling their vial and the other is a different registration class. Caught by fetching the abstract instead of quoting the summary. This is `SCOPE`, which sits at 6 in the histogram with no rule in STEP V against it; a verbatim amendment is in §6.
  • Order-defect channel: read, and already calibrated. 126 defects across 37 orders, unchanged on yesterday — 118 corrected-and-shipped, 8 stopped-the-order, never summed. `UNCLASSIFIED` 31 plus `(not enumerated)` 25 leaves 56 of 126, 44%, illegible; legible ranking is OMISSION 18, PREMISE-FALSE 12, NUMBER 7. Yesterday's brief answered all three with executed changes rather than intentions, so per the 14-day rule I am not re-deriving them. Today's two mechanical changes are above and both were executed, not proposed.
  • A live primary source spent this run looking exactly like a dead one. Two Federal Register API calls returned HTTP 000 at 0 bytes. Not an outage and not a block: `curl` without `-g` reads `[` and `]` as a glob range and fails before the request leaves the runner. Percent-encoded, the identical query returned 200. The Federal Register is the host STEP V routes to because fda.gov blocks GitHub runners, and a 000 from it is indistinguishable in a scorecard from a host that is down — which is the exact mis-measurement the `never_fetched` counter and the 48-hour alert exist to prevent. One flag fixes it; a rule to hand-encode brackets would be forgotten. Filed as `barque-fix-agent-fetch-curl-glob-brackets`, high.
  • Reroutes: found, already re-filed on 2026-08-02 and 2026-08-04, not re-filed again. Two `REROUTE: BESTPEPTIDEFORTHAT` rows on killed glp1picks orders dated 2026-08-03. Channel read, not skipped.
  • The Premortem found a structural defect, not a scenario. `peptide-affiliate-share`'s falsifier is scoped to one affiliate network while the forecast is scoped to total Compound affiliate revenue. Eight consecutive negative queries have therefore been cheap and uninformative in equal measure. That is the same family as the 2026-08-01 resolution-source finding on the Medicare row, and it is now two of four pending forecasts whose instrumentation is the weak part rather than their reasoning.
