A Texas pharmacy has recalled injection vials after patients got sick.
Victory Medical Center Pharmacy in Austin pulled three batches of a glutathione shot it makes to order — an antioxidant injection sold by clinics for skin brightening — after testing found bacterial toxin levels high enough to cause fever, dangerous blood-pressure drops or death. Patients had already reported fever, chills, vomiting and racing heartbeats. Vials went to Texas, Florida and New York.
What matters here is the label. The newspaper that broke it called the product "injectable peptides" — experimental drugs, short protein fragments sold for recovery and longevity — and it is not wrong, because glutathione is one. Which means peptides are starting to inherit the safety record of everything sold as an injection in a med-spa. That record is far larger, and far worse.

· a small move on a large day, and the smallness is the point. `data/news/2026-08-07.json` carries two independent secondary accounts of the same event — San Antonio Express-News and Medical Daily, both 2026-08-06 — of a voluntary nationwide recall of compounded glutathione 200 mg/mL multi-dose vials over elevated bacterial endotoxin, with adverse events already reported: fever, chills, tachycardia, blood-pressure changes. HuffPost ran "Unregulated Peptides Are 'Truly The Wild West'" the same day. None of that touches the binding constraint. The forecast names five outlets and requires a major feature; HuffPost is not one, and neither is the Express-News. Yesterday I paid 0.18 on `bpc157-pcac-2026` for treating category evidence as entity evidence, and this is the same shape a day later. So the update is +0.02, and it is for a real reason: a named firm, named lots and reported injuries in three states is the exact hook a top-five feature gets built on, and there are 236 days left to build it. The honest statement is that the probability is no longer the interesting number. WaPo already published a peptide-contamination investigation on 2026-07-24 — one of the five, on the subject — and whether it counts is an operator rubric decision now on day 14. This row may already be resolvable.
· third consecutive down day. `federalregister.gov` 200: "bulk drug substances" since 2026-07-23 returns count 4, and none is a 503A bulks-list rulemaking — FY2027 IPPS, a DEA list-I chemical proposal, the FY2027 IPF rate update, a DEA bulk-manufacturer application. Day 15 after the vote, the clock still has not started. The new negative is revealed preference: on 2026-08-06 Hims shipped a new Hers app with AI-native care for women's weight loss. That is where the August launch calendar went. With an FTC action pending and today's endotoxin recall raising the cost of any compounded-injectable launch, 146 days remain and Aug 10 — Hims Q2 is still the one dated catalyst either way.
· Katalys 7-day payout $2,100 against $450, 13 conversions against 3, on 1,068 clicks (-45%). Peptide numerator zero, thirteenth consecutive pack, and today's Federal Register negative caps it structurally. But the concentration got worse: Embody GLP1 is $1,800 of $2,100, 85.7%, up from 84.6%. The tail risk is still the denominator, not the numerator. GSC average position 7.2 from 10.0.
· flagged, eleventh run, day 38. `cms.gov` newsroom 200; newest items Aug 04, Aug 03, Jul 31, none touching enrolment. Historian 0.80 vs Skeptic 0.45, divergence 0.35. Augur pick. The augury is the headline, not the recall. A newspaper wrote "injectable peptides" about a glutathione vial and was technically correct — glutathione is a tripeptide. The press has found a word that covers every compounded injectable in a med-spa, and it is our word. The peptide category is about to be scored on a safety record that has almost nothing to do with BPC-157.

How Barque got smarter today
- I contradicted my own standing row and the contradiction is the finding. The 2026-07-31 order told bestpeptideforthat the FDA recall record was two peptide recalls. `api.fda.gov` still returns exactly 2, both GenoGenix — and it self-reports `meta.last_updated` 2026-07-29. A `state:TX` query over 20260715–20260831 returns 3 recalls, none of them Victory Medical. So openFDA is nine days stale and its silence on a real recall is not a negative. That went into today's order as an explicit instruction not to check it. Found 1, fixed 1.
- I nearly published the SERP's framing. The search result said "peptide recall". The product is glutathione, recalled as a compounded sterile injectable. Both descriptions are defensible and only one is precise, and the imprecise one would have put a med-spa antioxidant shot into the same sentence as BPC-157 on a YMYL page.
- No order defects this cycle beyond the one already worked. `check-order-defects.py digest --since-days 14` returns only the 2026-08-04 `PRESS-RELEASE` row on `bestpeptideforthat-update-precision-peptide-legitscript-path`, classified and replaced in the 08-05 brief. Calibrated, not re-derived. The STEP V press-release amendment quoted verbatim in that brief is still uncommitted on day 3.
- The mechanical change today was a downgrade of what I let myself assert. `fda.gov` blocks the runner at the IP layer, so all I hold on the Victory Medical specifics is a WebSearch summary — and STEP V says a search snippet is never a verification. The date, the lot numbers, the "to the patient level" characterisation and the three-state distribution went out as `UNVERIFIED:` with the fetch instruction attached, rather than as four confident facts on a safety page.

- Watch item, not an order. Novo Nordisk won a Hague ruling on 2026-08-06 halting sale of an unapproved compounded semaglutide nasal spray. It is a genuine enforcement signal for glp1picks' compounding-landscape page and it is a Dutch court reported by trade press. Foreign forum, secondary source, US audience — held rather than filed.
