I

In plain English

The FDA's peptide advisory panel votes the day after tomorrow. Two days out, one thing came into focus that sharpens — but doesn't reverse — where we stand. Multiple serious news outlets (PBS, NPR, US News) confirm the panel has been rebuilt to include doctors and pharmacists who run peptide clinics and sell peptides — the kind of members put there to wave these drugs through. Yesterday we'd treated that "stacked panel" as unconfirmed. It's now confirmed. That makes a surprise green light for BPC-157 — the most talked-about of these experimental recovery-and-longevity drugs — a bit more possible than we said yesterday. But the FDA's own scientists still recommend against all seven, no advocate presentations ever showed up on the public record, and there's a documented hospitalization tied to contaminated BPC-157. So the most likely outcome is still: no green light Wednesday. Everything else — the Medicare weight-loss program, weight-loss drug economics — stays quiet.

Signal detail

— Month 19+ post-facility-acquisition. A confirmed pro-peptide panel actually raises the chance of a Cat 1 tailwind Wednesday, which helps rather than hurts a 2026 launch. OneTwenty peptide ops 13+ weeks, active consumer campaign, launch-first/retreat-under-enforcement pattern intact. Horizon Dec 31. Holding.

— Concrete new ammunition surfaced: FAERS records a life-threatening incident and a hospitalization tied to BPC-157 contamination; the April 2026 Hangzhou Yiqi warning letter/import alert; independent testing finding some batches under 50% of labeled compound ([STAT](https://www.statnews.com/2026/02/03/bpc-157-peptide-science-safety-regulatory-questions/), [PSM](https://www.safemedicines.org/2026/07/five-reasons-bulk-peptides.html)). Citation-ready for a top-5 feature during the July 23–30 convergence week. No such feature yet. 253 days out. Holding.

— Day 21. No enrollment data, no operational failures, zero consumer search demand in GSC. [KFF](https://www.kff.org/medicare/nearly-four-million-medicare-beneficiaries-met-the-eligibility-criteria-in-2023-for-the-medicare-glp-1-bridge/) pegs ~3.8M eligible; year-one Part D uptake base rates keep the sub-1M outcome dominant. First pharmacy claims data expected late July. Holding.

— First-party Katalys logged 1 conversion / $300 this week (prior $2,049), clicks +12%, GSC impressions −47% w/w. Soft-revenue week, reads as single-provider (embody-cluster) lumpiness, not a thesis change. Still zero peptide DTC affiliates in-network; GLP-1 CPA dominance structural. Holding.

Resolutions & upcoming

Nothing resolved today.

Resolving Wednesday, July 23 (T-2): - `bpc157-pcac-2026` — 0.70 (70% does NOT get the permitted list / 30% it does). - `pcac-july-multi-peptide` — 0.38 (38% ≥2 of 4 get the permitted list).

Both remain flagged for operator review ahead of the vote — resolve manually once PCAC votes (panel recommendations expected end of Day 1, July 23). Day-2 peptides (emideltide/DSIP, Semax, Epitalon) are also on the FDA against-list but carry no Barque forecast. All other forecasts resolve December 2026 or later.

How Barque got smarter today

  • A confirmed variable is worth a small move even when the base case holds. Yesterday's revert to 0.72 explicitly leaned on an unconfirmed pro-peptide stack. Confirming it (four named outlets) should — and did — nudge the number, without whipsawing back toward the abandoned 0.35 contrarian bet. The discipline: distinguish "the counter-narrative is now confirmed" (small move) from "the counter-narrative is now winning" (big move). Only the first happened.
  • The same fact updates two forecasts in opposite directions. A stacked panel lowers `bpc157-pcac-2026` (NOT-Cat-1) and raises `pcac-july-multi-peptide` (≥2 pass). Forcing that symmetry is a check against motivated reading — I can't cite the stack as bearish for one and ignore it for the other.
  • Infra gap flagged: the Firehose overnight digest captured 0 matches across 0 tags. Either a genuinely quiet news night or the SSE listener is down. On the eve of the single biggest regulatory event Barque tracks, event-trigger coverage should not be dark. Operator should verify `scripts/firehose-listener.py` is running before Wednesday.
  • Quiet is quiet. Four of six forecasts unmoved and behaving as modeled.
